The accounting spec (https://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/MIFOSX/A+Possible+accounting+Spec) introduces branch Closures for accounting entries.
Once a branch is marked as closed for accounting purposes for a particular day, no accounting transactions can be performed against that Branch (either Manual or System generated) without first removing the Closure. So any operation that would trigger system generated entries into the Journal (like Loan disbursements, repayments) would also automatically fail.
While there is no explicit "Day Begin", the day close functionality is what GK would be more Interested in and this should satisfy their requirements at a high level
