To support the full lifecycle of a client, Mifos X needs additional statuses like Cancelled and to add flags for the reason of closure (blacklist, etc.).
Better tracking of client and the calculation of ratios around that should be handled in a separate issue.
Better tracking of pre-lending (i.e. tracking prospective clients like in a CRM) should be handled by a separate issue.

Likely these account flags could be codes (it would be nice to have them predefined with similar values as found in Mifos 2.x:

Closed State: The flags associated with this state are: Transferred, Duplicate Account, Blacklisted, Left Program, and Other.

Cancelled State: Withdrawn, rejected, blacklisted, duplicate, other.
Other states to support include: partial application and on hold.
