Garry,

Those links I sent you, specifically the second one, are the instructions
for updating. Maybe they are not clear enough?

I¹ll state it in another way. Please read these instructions all the way
through before beginning the upgrade.
1. Shutdown Mifos
2. If you have any custom reports, you will want to copy the ³report²
directory in tomcat/webapps/mifos to somewhere else
3. Remove both Mifos.war and your expanded war file, which is the directory
mifos under tomcat/webapps
4. Expand the Mifos zip file and copy the mifos.war file into tomcat/webapps
5. Start Tomcat. Mifos will automatically update the database on the first
run.
6. Once you get the login screen for Mifos, shutdown Tomcat and copy the
report directory you saved from earlier back into tomcat/webapps/mifos
directory. You can let it overwrite the report directory that is there now,
or you can just copy in all the missing report files. Be sure the
permissions are the same from before. Start Tomcat again

Is that any clearer? If so, can you please let us know. Also, if you could
take a look at the instructions I sent you again and give some specific
feedback (why do you think its for installing a new instance of Mifos
instead of upgrading? Is the text not clear or?)

Also, in regards to your second question, it depends on what version you are
upgrading from. If its 1.1, then it will be making both database and
application updates. If you are upgrading from 1.2, I think it¹s only
application updates (fixing two bugs).

Best,
Ryan
