My understanding, supported by others in this thread who are more
knowledgeable than me, is no.

You could set up multiple virtual machines, one for each MFI, possibly with
a reverse proxy (in another VM) to direct inbound traffic to the correct
site. Each of these would have its own instances of Tomcat and Mifos.

A single database server or VM could serve the database needs of all the
MFIs provided each MFI's database has a unique name.

Subject to capacity planning, of course.

I've just set up something very similar for our small ISP operation using
OpenVZ and Debian Linux, Squid, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc. Ubuntu or CentOS
could be used in place of Debian - it's just that we have a lot of history
using Debian. In the Windows world there is a free version of VMware, but
each Windows VM needs its own licence, of course.

One of my half-started projects is Mifos-in-a-box, using OpenVZ, Linux,
Mifos, MySQL, iptables, etc, to run the whole system on a single physical
server with isolated VMs for the web/app server, database server, admin
server, and possibly dev/test. The thought behind this is that the only
capital cost would be for the hardware, as all the software is free (and
Free) plus, possibly, some consulting fees if the MFI doesn't have the
necessary skills in-house.

Regards
Graeme
