Another idea: debug Mifos, especially the PluginManager class. IIRC, debugging is covered under subcategories of http://www.mifos.org/developers/wiki/HowToDevelopOnMifos and requires Java coding experience and knowledge of the servlet specification, Tomcat, etc.
