Milan,

After you deploy and start your MIFOS application, you can only change
certain things in your COA mappings. Specifically you cannot

1. Modify/delete your existing GL accounts

2. Modify the GL codes itself.

You can however add new GL accounts if needed.

Thanks

Chetan

Subject: Re: [Mifos-users] Chart of accounts

Thanks Ed,

However I've just read that "Specifically, the values from the Chart of
Accounts can only be written to the database once. " Is it really the
case that I cannot amend these values after I've started configuring the
applicaiton?

Milan,

I've fixed and updated the links and temporarily replaced the text
listing default chart of accounts with an image (a formatting error was
causing the text to be rendered in one incomprehensible blob).

I take it you've seen the links to configuring your chart of accounts
and customizing your financial account mappings in the Configuration
Guide (http://mifos.org/documentation/configuration)

Please also look at this Excel template on customizing chart of accounts
and the financial account mappings - http://mifos.org/node/411

Regarding searching the mailing list archives - I would recommend
browsing the Gmane Archives
(http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.finance.mifos.user) or Google Groups
(http://groups.google.com/group/mifosusers) archives for Mifos-users.
Alternatively, you can browse the old Gmane archives for
Mifos-functional ( a historical mailing list that was merged into
mifos-users. (http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.finance.mifos.functional)

        hello,

I'm looking for information on Chart of Accounts, as the links
off of this page seem to be broken:

unts

Specifically I wish to determine as follows:

        1) Where do the codes for CofA come from? Is there a standard
that Mifos uses?

        2) How can I change these codes?

Also, a more general question--perhaps I'm being thick, but
there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to search the mifos-users
archive on the Sourceforge page...I tried using the search box at the
top of the screen, but it searches the whole sourceforge site. Is there
any way to search the archive, as it would probably save a lot of time
if I can find responses to previous questions.

        Thanks

        Milan
