We just concluded the first in this series of meetings. Chetan (from
India), and Kakha (from Georgia) were on.
Chetan spoke about efforts underway at Grameen Koota in creating a separate
web application to cater to some of the accounting needs for microfinance
that is currently being piloted alongside Mifos. It might be possible to
adopt/re-use/re-purpose, or learn from these efforts, so we will try to
obtain more information about the same.
Kakha has already published specific requirements around accounting (links
available on other mails in this thread and in JIRA). We discussed the
current resources and plans to begin work on the same, and the need to
ensure that development is compatible with plans for MifosX eventually.
I will be documenting (or perhaps, re-organising) the specific areas that
we believe need more attention in the next few days, so that we can focus
on these as requirements, and will send more email to the list once this is
ready.
We'd certainly like a lot more participation and suggestions. Feel free to
write to the list if you can't make it to the call in person.
It is proposed to hold the next call at 10:30 AM IST (5 AM GMT) on 14th
Feb. Requests for alternative timing are also welcome.
