Dear Mifos Users,
Krishnan started very good initiative: Mifos.Accounting. 1st meeting was
2 days ago, Cheatan (SunGuard) and Kakha(FinA) have participated in
meeting. Our preliminary policy is to create Open Source module , integrated
into Mifos which will support basic (very simple) accounting needs. We
know that Mifos.Accounting is needed for many community members. We also
obtained that requirements are almost same – so instead of doing this
module separately, which will be much more expensive for each company and
will take much more time – I kindly urge you to centralize our efforts and
with good coordination participate in development of the useful for
everybody module.
Dear colleagues this is my 2nd message asking you to be active participant
of Krishnan’s initiative. Let me this time be more clear:
- Please do not look at this like “it will developed anyway and then I
will use it”. Please think what *you can give to community , not only on
what community can give you*. We will be very thankful to companies
and specialists who will participate and in case of business opportunities
we will contact our good partners (project contributors) instead of people
who are just using community deliveries and not participating in
initiatives. With good product we have a very big market, I have one
project now and not able to implement it together with 2 companies + 1
independent consultant.
- If we will not be able to wake you up we can change our decision
regarding Open Source and develop it as commercial code . Then you will
have to pay for this or other product … Please try to understand that
1-2 people or company cannot develop such kind of extension.
- Probably we have to announce who are in Mifos.Accounting group. Later
we will not put there guys/companies who are always referring in
private calls/chats that “ they need accounting”, “without financial module
Mifos is useless” , etc… but same time not doing anything to improve it.
For those guys probably will be very difficult (from moral point of view)
to ask help to community.
How you can contribute?
- *Ideas* : We need your ideas, approaches, technical/functional
views, etc.., (Krishnan will tell you how to record it on centralized
place);
- *Professional recommendations*: I am sure core team will help us. There
is some technical issues which has to be discussed and approved by core
developers. We understand that core team is busy with current
assignments and working on very important tasks ( also important for us) ,
so we will try to take minimum of time and coordinate everything according
there availability and recommendations.
- *Resources*:
a. Developers and Development (Java / Pentaho / DBA/ etc. )
b. Funds ( you can pay for developers and system analyst)
c. Infrastructure : Virtual computers, Amazon servers , etc (
Krishnan will send what is needed for developers)
d. Other (please feel free to suggest)
- *Development: *Developers are welcome. Please submit your cv’s .
Krishan and/or core dev team will announce skills required on next meeting
…
- *Business requirements* : we need well documented , short requirement
docs with useful schemas and diagrams.

team who did much more then some stupid Georgian cleaner who even can not
write properly in english. :-)
