On a demo that Andreas was giving today of the WYSIWYG editor for the
user-generated documents module, Rupal came up with some very important
questions.
Since the ultimate format of these is a PDF that's getting printed out, we
wanted to understand what control is possible over page layout/formatting
since we are generating HTML documents.
For the end user, you know how important it is to save paper, and how
precisely they pay attention to the detail of each page and how much
information they can fit. We want to provide an experience as similar to
the control of layout found in MS Word, or the same level of precision in
laying out a report.
Is this possible while generating an HTML document? I wouldn't want this to
be a show-stopping issue but the print output is what matters the most at
the end of the day and a user won't use these templates if they can't
generate what they need.
I think support would be something similar to generating a print-friendly
page when viewing a webpage. Is there control over page
layout/size/orientation/etc. in the CSS stylesheet?
Or am I completing this in that you would simply select page
size/orientation when printing to PDF?
