Hi Mark,
We have developed a screen for doing entry of opening balances – if you could
take the latest code from develop branch – this screen will be present in it.
The link is present under:

This screen is a working prototype – and can be improved.
If you do decide to do some work on this – please see if this API can be
improved on.
I have one thought – that the contra account definition should be moved from
“Global Configurations” to “Accounts Linked to Financial Activities”.

Thank you for the advise. We have discussed this over skype and agreed that
the contra gl will indeed have a zero balance if it is posted against all
balances. However, we have a lot of branches and a lot of gl accounts to work
with.
May I ask if this can be scripted through the api? I will be happy to make a
form and a script for this with your guidance so I can follow the api
documentation.
