Hello Binny. I wasn't able to download and setup the latest dev build
locally.
But I would like to ask if the screen mentioned was built based on this
mockup. https://mifosforge.jira.com/browse/MIFOSX-1159.
If it is, I think it would be difficult for users with data coming from
their previous systems because they would need to first enter the GL
accounts then do data entry on this screen for each office.
I suggest the following changes:
1. create a form which will allow users to upload an excel file containing
the chart of accounts.
2. reduce the form for setting the opening balances for each office to:
- Office
- Date
- File Upload - containing the GL accounts and their balances.
Since the contra gl approach was based on the accounting principle: Assets
= Liabilities + Stocks +Incomes - Expenses, on submit the form should just
check if A = L + S + I - E.
If it is, then there would be no need to post against a contra GL account.
Instead, we can use the api (
https://demo.openmf.org/api-docs/apiLive.htm#journalentries_create) to post
a single journal entry which includes all debit accounts posted against all
credit accounts.
I am a php developer. I will be creating an upload form and script for
this today.
Please let me know your thoughts on this.
