Similar Math can applied to most standards and even non standards based radio sets. Then you get into how much HORSEPOWER a radio has IE CPU tiks or how many streams it can push with out stepping on itself.

Since I solely work with Cambium on this level they have their limits as well. Look at an AP at 7Mhz channel then introduce interference even with multiple streams at a 5Mbs sustainable rate for the customer I can only place 14 customers on there and be happy and given they are all getting great MIMO rates.

I have one that has 50 on it which is no surprise since we had to move a ton of FSK to these newer platforms.

I get customers all of the time, my customer can’t get 5 meg, why not they are complaining.

You look, the client is installed at -82, getting 24 meg RX rate. 24 / 2 is 12, so sure 12 meg ok.. but wait, now they are on 10 mhz, theres 12/ 2 again, so 6 meg, so that ONE client would get 6 meg if they were the ONLY client on the access point with no interference, btw, there is another 40 clients on the AP. Guess what! Getting 2-3 meg would be doing good.

Hahah. Good write up though.

This applies to other vendors as well.

What would you expect to be a good maximum user count on an AP?

    XR5 card in a RB433AH

    ROS 6.28

5Ghz-A, 20MHz channel, nstreme (polling enabled, CSMA disabled), WDS
