The problem is that is no standard for 5/10 MHz channels. They came about as a result of a happy accident in the Atheros Chipset and is not covered in the IEEE spec. Whenever people wonder off the spec, these things happen.
So each company sat down and wrote their code to work as well as they could with their own radios. I doubt its malice on anyone's part, and I suspect MT and Star-OS didn't even look at what the other was doing for legal reasons. Lonnie wrote his code one way, MT another, both I'm sure were trying to make their radios work well together. Tranzeo supports both as a CPE, so it can be done. It just takes a lot of effort to support the many ways of doing it released so far. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Robert Andrews Sent: Monday, November 16, 2009 10:28 AM To: Mikrotik discussions Subject: [Spam Bayesian - ] - Re: [Mikrotik] 10mhz channel compatibility with StarOS - Bayesian Filter detected spam It's because ether MT or StarOS has written code to specifically not talk to the other. I have not been able to determine who the offending party is but if I figure out who, I will probably not buy any more equipment from them. That kind of games do not belong in this business. Not when they have much bigger problems to address. If anyone knows more about who the offending party is, I would love to hear it. When I asked UBNT about it, the quiet was absolute. When I asked StarOS about it, there was some snippy remark.
