I'm looking for some input on possible solutions for providing a
redundant gateway on a bridged network using Mikrotik.
Essentially what I have is a large LAN spanning about 30 miles in either
direction connecting remote offices together. They are linked via long
range wireless links. My internet connection comes into our main office
location. Essentially, what I'd like to do is be able to have a
secondary internet connection at one of the endpoints that would take
over in case the wireless link were to go down. Essentially, this
internet connection on the far side would need to be able to VPN back
into "home base" to allow them connectivity into our Citrix servers
using the internet should the wireless link go down due to weather or
other unforeseen issues.
How would I want to go about setting this up while keeping the same
network topology intact without having to re-subnet and/or break up my
broadcast domain? I already have a PPTP VPN solution in place that
assigns IPs on a different subnet and the MT at the main office handles
the routing from that point, but that is about as far as I'd want to
break it up. Would I want to look at an EoIP tunnel or something?
Thanks in advance!
