Of course, you should never use anything other than the "official" power supply, but this should be fine, UNLESS it one of the old 3 lb linear bricks, which would be about 6 or 7 year old. If it feel like you could take down a deer with it, don't use it.
The switchers are all 18 V, 1 Amp output, In Rush well under the 26.5 volt mark. Never use our 24 with a MT, gets too close to the magic voltage at in rush. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Robert Andrews Sent: April-26-11 9:35 AM To: Mikrotik discussions Subject: Re: [Mikrotik] RB 450 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 IF you verify that the power supply is putting out the correct load voltage with a VOM... If a transformer style PS shorts it can put out a bunch more voltage than you want. Check without a load if you want and it shouldn't be more than 27 Volts I keep some old 133c's around just to test PS's after checking without load. If it blows the 133, I cut the cord off to reuse and toss the PS and the 133...
