XR5 has amplifier for both input and output.

Swapped an r52 with xr5 and got another 4 db RX. Not sure how, but it
shows me why I keep buying them.

+1 on this recommendation, they work much better than the R52Hn

I was thinking r52hn, too. Not sure how it's going to act

The R52 was, in my opinion, the best minipci card that
Mikrotik has
released. It mimicked the CM9 in performance with a
little more transmit
power. I was not impressed with the R52H, had too many go
dead. I think
Mikrotik may have overdriven the amps in those cards. I
could not keep them
running. The R52nm is alright. I like the MMCX
connectors, but it did not
seem like it had as much receiver sensitivity as the R52.
I ended up using
the R52Hn in my network. It has the MMCX connectors, good
output power and
good receiver sensitivity. The XR5 I have not used very
much, but what I
did
use of them, they performed well. If it were me, I would
use the R52Hn.
They
worked for me in rural NE Texas. YMMV.

My current pricing for XR5 is $96.50
My current pricing for R52Hn is $43.00

Has anyone compared the r52/h, r52hn and r52nm versus XR5?

The XR5, while pretty good, is $90. Mikrotik cards are
less than $60. I
do
need it to support 802.11a for older CPEs, but I'm
expecting that won't be
an issue with those.
