The cracker who allegedly stole 300,000 customer credit card numbers
from CD Universe tried to extort $100,000 from the e-commerce company.
When that failed, he allegedly posted card numbers on a web site, and

In an effort to halt child pornography, a "virtual neighborhood watch"
group is tracking offending sites, providing detailed information to
law enforcement agencies, and in some instances, attacking the sites
using hacking techniques.   While the group says it only attacks the
sites as a last resort, doing so destroys evidence and may constitute
criminal activity.
