Happened to us to. We have a real class B netblock (not a supernetted group of class C's), and we provide internet connections to over 100 school districts. One of them had an open relay, so we got blacklisted for our entire block. I forget which list it was on, but it pissed alot of people off. Here is the best part of the story. I contacted the ISP and he said at first that he had no control over who was blacklisted and I needed to get Ameritech to resolve the problem. In the next breath, he took my IP's and said he would make a change. Here is the original reject message I recieved from the ISP:
550 5.0.0 You dont respond to abuse complaints so you are all blocked
After my conversation with him, this is the new message:
550 5.0.0 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wont respond to abuse complaints so you are all blocked
He is running sendmail and is capable enough to change the deny message in his access file, but is too stupid or is just a jerk and can't be bothered to whitelist me. Other than threaten to take business away from him by hosting his customers for him, it doesn't appear that I have many options...
Oh, well. Thank you everyone for listening and for your suggestions!
Mark
