Chris, Sorry, I think I missed the change from .co.uk to .com in the listings - I really shouldn't post at 11pm! It may also be that the receiving system is checking for an A record for the domain, which I've seen happen sometimes.
In any case, I am 99.99% certain that there is no problem with your mail server setup, as the error is definitely generated at the other end. I am also 99.99% certain that there is nothing wrong with the Barclays system, so all that's left is that something about your domain is triggering their system to tempfail you.
