Right. When I mouse over a link I look at the status bar, and if they don't match, my presumption is that someone's pulling a fast one. If they need to obscure the "real" URL behind a redirector, then show me the redirector URL. Or, as you say, put human-readable descriptive text there (eg. "Click Here"), not a URL.
