On the subject of Mina performance:

We are using Mina as part of our instant messaging server software. We
consistently do 20,000+ socket connections per server, with a throughput of
around 1,200 packets per second during peak time. The throughput is not as good
as we would have liked, but this is due to another downstream service
bottleneck.

We haven't tried Netty, but did have a look at QuickServer. Our tests showed
that QuickServer is not very quick at all when compared to Mina.

The upgrade to Mina 1.0 was relatively painless, and has proven to be very
stable.

To the Mina team - well done guys, you're doing a great job!

Subject: Re: [jira] Commented: (DIRMINA-258) Example of an XML server and
Client.

Dear all,

In my opinion, MINA is at least as fast as Netty, otherwise I would not
replace Netty with MINA. I also tested with QuickServer
http://sourceforge.net/projects/quickserver/, but QuickServer is much
slower than MINA or Netty. However, QuickServer is maybe a nice example
of how documentation could be created. They have created a nice document
for developing and setting up a server.

Best Regards
Martin
