If it's as effective as suggested, I don't see any ethical quandaries in doing 
so.

As to the placebo effect, a while back I posted an article that
strongly suggested, based on study, that the majority (around 80% I
seem to remember) of MDs in the US not only agree with using placebos,
but do in practice themselves.
