There must be more to an out of body expirience other than a straight
foward perception shift. Aren't those who can induce these states
supposedly be able to travel beyond the limits of the senses, and as
Pat says, bring back new information?

I've had two out of body expiriences in my life. One was pretty much
as described by these expiriments, I felt that I was hoving outside of
my body, nothing really interesting beyond that. Another one also
involved me feeling as if I was outside myself, but also included
visual hallucinations (I'm not sure that is exactly how you'd describe
it, though).

The out of body phenomenon must be a gateway to some sort of
hallucinatory state as well.
