Anon,
I was deeply touched and a little overwhelmed by the pain you
articulated.  Like 'archytas' I suffer from depression and can relate
to some of the pain you express. It did occur to me however that if we
could 'design' babies who would never have to suffer the agonies and
the stigmas of mental illness I believe that would be truly
wonderful.  Unlike you I do not believe in God but if he/she did exist
why would a creator endow us with the ability to do what we do if he/
she found it offensive?  I sincerely hope that somewhere, sometime you
are able to find some happiness.
