The question at issue now was asked by Macarthur after WW2. It is whether to do something with nuclear weapons and a vast technology differential whilst we still have it. Bush threatened to bomb Pakistan back to the stone age and I suspect many harbour a secret illusion that "we" should rid the world of "problematic peoples". One can see that we are losing the technology lead. Disgusting thoughts, but I'm sure I hear plenty of this one way or another. America has a habit of winning the economics and may have seen its real enemies as all the imperialist nations rivalling its empire. They all ended-up broke or occupied.
