Trying to resolve anything like this we are clearly obstructed in many different ways. What we don't do is look at this in order to establish what the key evidence would be and whether it is available or could be made available. The extent to which we are not in fair dialogue is generally neglected in public debate and not taken up well in academic criticism. The lies told by the British and French over Suez amount to something very similar to the theory that 9/11 was a CIA or MOSAD set-up designed to bring about war. One does not prove the other but the duplicity of foreign policy is demonstrated. The professionalism of our secret services is generally fictional - they don't catch the real plotters and regularly pick on buffoons who are no threat. Quite obvious blunders are easily covered up. What we need to stop doing is believing the government fairy tales and insist on proper, open and independent investigation. We also need to stop the loonies and opportunists making it so easy to brand anyone dissenting as such.
