can anyone figure out why it is such a problem for clare to love tess
because she worked for another guy (the fake (d'urberville) and he
kissed her n stuff, but she never really liked him. he only liked
her... and because of that clare refuses to accept her even though she
has done nothing wrong. i know this was written with a certian
philosophy of the era, which maybe i am not understanding.?
