“…well, one might as well say secular fanaticism is a very dangerous
thing; or democratic fanaticism is a dangerous thing, or economic
fanaticism is very dangerous thing…” – AW

One might, …..and one does.

“If one believes fanaticism is always dangerous, and danger is always
bad, of course any fanaticism is a bad fanaticism.” – AW

By its very nature, fanaticism* is dangerous because it is based upon
ignorance.
[* “Fanaticism is an emotion of being filled with excessive,
uncritical zeal,…”] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fanaticism
Other definitions are similar in meaning.

“… On the other hand if one does not think fanaticism is essentially
evil, then some are fanaticisms are good, some, bad, and we'd need to
separate one from the other.” – AW

Being ‘bad’ for most people has nothing at all to do with being ‘evil’…
a notion that is not universal. All the rest is justification for
being fanatical and doesn’t hold water except for the apologist.
