These are very good questions, for sure, however, I don't think all
the atheists are on a crusade to prove their beliefs are far more
legit than Christianity's. I personally don't mind the other
religions; everyone to their own belief. Religion is a personal thing
and I don't think they should be attacking each other. It's
disrespectful.>=(
Funny thing is my sister is slightly Atheist, but she doesn't care
about proving why her religion makes sense to her. One of the
reason's why she's Atheist is because she wants to live for the now
and not concern herself with the afterlife (you miss a lot of things
if you keep thinking of the future or past, but that is my own
oppinion, people may disagree). Part of my family is Catholic,
another is Mormon, and another is Baptist. As for me, I'm like my
sister, but I believe some Hinduism as well, only a tiny bit. And our
family gets along quite fine mostly because we believe the things we
believe, won't discuss which religion makes more sense, and we
concentrate on our family, the "now" and also this belief ties in with
my sister's beliefs.^__^
My point here is who knows which religion's right. Maybe there's more
than one god? Or maybe Jesus really did die on the cross for all our
sins? I have no answers, and neither do you. We can only believe in
the things we feel is right and go on through the day until the time
comes when we really get to "see the face of God." And I suppose
we're all equal in this way too; we'll all know who's right once we
get there, huh? Hahaha!! I'm sorry for the cryptic thought, but
there was some irony there and I couldn't resist.^__^
As human beings sharing this one small planet (especially when you
compare it to the sun), I urge everyone to respect each other's
beliefs. There were many a great wars fought over the domination of
whose religion was greater, yet does anyone for sure know what is on
the other side? And if Christianity IS the true religion of God, then
doesn't he say to "love your brother?" There are many religions out
there that tell us to follow the paths of "loyalty," "love," and
"unity." Then wouldn't all our gods be disappointed in the people who
are hypocritic and attack their brother with prejudices and childish
games ("whose right" game)?
Everyone has their own seperate rules of what they believe is right.
I believe in my morals: 1) When you have the strength to defend the
weak then defend them, 2) Tell the truth when it's necessary; secrets
can hurt someone, 3) Love one another, 4) Don't attack; defend, etc.
Aren't these some of the beliefs that Christianity preaches? And I'm
not a Christian. I don't go to church. However, I practice these
with a full heart and I don't run away from my set of morals. You
don't have to be part of a religion to do what's right. You're a
"human." A creator and a destroyer (we've demolished rainforests, but
we've also helped to rebuild them). You were given hands for a
reason. Everyone complains "that's just the way things are." "I
can't control what's always been there." That's not true! In my
mind, I wish for the world to be cleaner. So what do I do? I pick up
a piece of trash on my way to class. If more people did this, don't
you think we would have a clean campus? And if everyone around the
world did this, don't you think our world would be cleaner? My plan
is not full proof. It never was. But I'm doing everything I can to
encourage people that united we can change the world into something we
wish would happen. And it's easy! It all starts with tossing a piece
of garbage into a dumpster.^__^
