Often times I am left wondering about evil.. partly because I am not sure just what it is.. heinous, depravity (these I can grasp) are often used in conjunction with evil I think they are more of adjectives: an example being the rape of a very young child is both a heinous and deprived act of a very sick person that is out of balance with the rest of society, and there are scales that rate just how depraved the act is, which is good.
I think in the realm of spirituality the concept of evil is one that is man made to serve as a control focus factor. As I personally view my own spirituality. the object of it is to come into harmony and balance with the being I know as God. so in any given situation either I am in balance or out of balance (most of the time somewhere in between) I really don't see evil a a spiritual factor, I think this is mainly because of my personal experience and point of view. I think evil is used as a fear factor, not a judgement of spirituality or spiritual condition.
