They cannot collect data unless they have access. There are entries in the system registry that link them up with your computer. If you or someone you know has the ability to enter the system registry you can find the strings and delete them. I do it all the time when I uninstall a program in order to clean out the left over debris from the program. It's like cookies that gather information. However, be aware that the system registry is like doing brain surgery, one mistake you can mess up the whole works.
