Allan, there are many views on confidentiality when it comes to the web. One of the originators of the internet will not even own a computer today!
And, any email sent leaves a trail that can be tracked. Hackers can enter any computer connected to the web. Anything posted to the web is stored for posterity and is even scanned by the US government. With this in mind, when I use things like Facebook, I limit my friends and do not join specific ‘causes/groups’ that will allow access to more information about me. I keep settings fairly lean. On some social networking groups, I do not use my name or photo and do not say anything that would imply who I am. Different people approach the issue in different ways. Bottom line, we are all in constant interaction including our personal data.
