Nonetheless, convention normally regards a decade as beginning with the multiple of 10 and ending ten years later. So we regard the 60s as beginning in 1960 and the 80s as beginning in 1980. Thus, the Noughties began on January 1st., 2000 and will therefore end at midnight on the 31st. of next month.
