I sorta get what you mean, I'm not sure that people really don't know who they are enymore, more likely that who they are does not agree with your own perceptions on what a good human is? I think these people who you speak of are actualy very much aware of who they are and that no playacting is involved. Yep that is sad, but it is true I think.
