Death penalties are fine. All the problems with them emerge from the
dumb states of our legal systems, which we can't trust to do the job
properly. Blair and Bush illegally committed a million death
sentences, but will not face it themselves. We think juries get about
one in ten decisions wrong, and in the UK rely on verbal instructions
from judges that only a third of jurors understand (they all say they
do, but two-thirds fail when tested). This reliance on verbal
information is crass, as anyone who has done organisational behaviour
101 should know (Chinese whispers etc.)

Our long-term harasser and all round former neighbour scumbag was
finally convicted of arson with intent to endanger life and serious
assault (12 and 18 months ago) this week and will be looking at a long
custodial when sentence on March 8th. She and her partner have been
in a constant state of benefit-abuse, drugs and drug-dealing,
thieving, deceptions, violence, intimidation, burglaries, noise
nuisance, handling stolen goods and the abuse of their own kids for 20
years. The legal system has totally failed them and their kids and
abused us in trying to get things done. We don't know how many people
they have hurt, but are sure it's a lot. The petrol bomb didn't come
our way, but could have killed another family - our repeated warnings
falling not just on deaf ears, but hostile ones. If there was a bush
meat trade round here they would have been at that too. In their own
way this couple have been scratching a living in the same way as
poachers in the bush - in their own jungle. I'd rate their IQs at
about 85, enough it seems to outplay the authorities most of the
time. Our cats do such a job on us.

I wouldn't rule out death sentences for people like this, perhaps only
as a thought experiment to sharpen up the very woolly thinking and
dismal in/action in these situations, both by scrote and the
authorities.
