LOL!! There's always the chance that God will call Judgement Day before we do that to ourselves. And, if I'm right about the configuration of the universe, there'd be absolutely no way of telling when we'll plough into the anti-matter wall at the edge of the medium through which space-time expands. The only clue I'm aware of is in the Qur'an, where it hints that the day will fall on a New Moon. I assume that THAT is the reason for imposing a strictly lunar calendar in Islam and demanding that the New Moon be 'observed'. That would mean that there would be members of the 'faithful' who would be looking towards the Eastern sky when they start noticing that the fixed stars are disappearing, as that would be the first clue for Earth-bound viewers. Then, when the Sun itself hits 'the wall', it would squish out against the backdrop, flatten out and turn red (most likely). This would, for some viewers on Earth, be seen as a reddening of the sky in the West, as if the Sun were rising from the wrong direction, which is, of course, another part of the prophecy. If we take this literally, then it would seem that it might be calculable if we can determine a time when there is a New Moon that takes place at the same time that the Earth/Moon/Sun aligns with the direction in space that the Sun is moving towards. Does anyone know, off hand, what part of the sky our Sun is moving towards? Of course, I could look it up (and probably will, now) but, if anyone knows, it would save me the time. > On Feb 17, 9:38 pm, fiddler <[email protected]> wrote: > > > > > Possibly the only true death penalty/unforgivable crime category: the > > poaching of fellow primates and destruction of habitat for our > > cousins.
