There may be a starting point and ending point. The beginning would be when the energy was 'purely potential' and had not, yet, begun to realise that potential. The ending point would be once all possibilities have been exhausted. Again, this may be an INCREDIBLY long sequence of sequences, but not, necessarily, infinite. Rather, it only needs to be long enough to explore every possibility. And the things that 'energy' can do ARE limited. Of course there's another 'possibility' in that, once energy's possibilities are exhausted, God takes a new 'form' that is somewhat like energy but different and then goes through another sequence of sequences exploring the possibilities with THAT underlying substance. Still not, of necessity, infinite, but, nevertheless, FAR longer than we would ever be able to compute. So, I see no REAL contradiction, no. Also, one must be careful to note the difference between an 'eternal' space-time and God's 'atemporal' nature.
