Interesting concept and not unknown to me. The state that you describe brings the sub conscious into consciousness. This state is one in which your brian produces theta waves (4-7 Hz) on an EEG in humans. Some say that this is the highest state of meditation as these waves are otherwise observed only while sleeping. That is not entirely accurate though in deeper states of meditation it has been possible for the brain to go into delta rythm which is a high amplitude low frequency waves (1-4 Hz) usually associated with slow wave sleep.
