Perhaps you should look beyond your checkbook then.

And what would be a long term solution to poverty? Come on, don't
just complain as most right wingnuts in this country are doing. If
you're going to complain than at least offer a solution. How should
we deal with children who are not getting sufficient nutrition to be
alert and awake in school so they can get educated and raise
themselves up out of poverty?

That has happened to me. I thought my food stamp card had some money
left on it but it was all gone. My fault for not keeping better
track.

But did anyone in line do anything to offer this woman some help? Did
anyone offer to pay for some of her groceries? What did you do? Or
did everyone just decry the sadness of this person's situation while
holding tightly to their own pocketbooks?

I'm sorry but you keep contradicting yourself. You're previously and
frequently railed against government paying for anything, even if it
is the government's job to do so, as it is to maintain roads and
sidewalks. And if government is running a deficit to do so, you
complain about that. If the city levied an additional assessment to
fix your streets, it's because they are broke but are still trying to
do their job.

It was against my better judgment, but it's not likely to happen
again.
