Another thought is about promises of all types- are they inviolate in the modern world or any world? I ran into a woman I met through our sons being in Cub and Boy Scouts and she is doing fabulously well based on her husband's retirement at age 48 (after 30 years working for the city) and an over-generous pension that the city can no longer afford which is causing problems galore for all. Not sure if one can really win a battle with unions or other groups on pensions- guess this will come up frequently as governments tackle budget problems. It may have revived "death panels"! :-)
