There a new global currency - Bitcoin. You can google it. The idea isn't new - there have been many local economic transfer schemes. Potentially we could all use Bitcoin and have as little to do with official currencies as possible. In this sense, the connection of politics s with currency comes into relief without metaphor. The basic analogy works for me - politicians are in play for the currency of votes and these are broadly bought. My own contention is that we have no politics at all, just animal posturing. We would need to be rational for politics and clearly are not.
