Modernity and postmodernity is much blander stuff Pol. I used to use an article from a journal called Zygon called 'postmodernism: what one needs to know' with undergrads - I prefer to think about electrons speeding up in graphene as it approaches absolute zero - an observation that leads to a reconsideration of the formation of the universe from a source even smaller than us. The paper googles up from the title - I found it free at http://postmoderndays.blogspot.com/2005/04/postmodernism-what-one-needs-to-know.html - but there were other sources.
