Whether there are souls or not we are living beings and hence a proof of an intelligent and vibrant Nature. This body is an identity and if there is a migrating soul the consecutive bodies are as unrelated as cars. You could not marry as basically it is the body , an identity , which marries another identity. In this body you are Tony and in the next you are Robert , but in reality you are neither as these are just matter and you are the spirit , which has no gender and no species. As for purpose , what could be the purpose of the universe , which has a beginning and end. Life is just a manifestation of Nature and purpose is relevant to groups and individuals, and many and varied.
