Laws of growth are probably subject to the 'poverty of historicism' critique. Our cat now cuddles-up to Zak, the retired Guide Dog. I'm not sure we need literature to make us superior to nature that often lines up 'opposites' in symbiosis, even at the level of bacteria and viruses in situational context. Much from artists, poets and writers has glib appeal to superiority and leaving the scut work to others while feeling virtuous as observers of a virtue ethics of an elite that excludes the others whilst talking in contradictory terms of mutual loving isolation. We could free ourselves of bildung and move to a more material equality that could allow us not to be concerned with private lives.
