Cheer up Neil.. That is where we started or somewhere in the middle. The knowledge contained within the universe is so vast it is beyond our ability to even scratch the surface. Fortunately there is the onion. Layer by layer it can be peeled back. We don' have to know it all just how to access that knowledge.
