Hello, thanks JonY for raising this discussion. the point is, that we need to point out by this thread that we are depending on donations. Code donations, testing, feedback, license, hardware, buildbots, etc. All are most welcome to us, as it brings us as venture forward. Therefore I want thank here every contributor very much in the name of mingw-w64. Monetary donations are of course a way too to support us too. nevertheless we are pretty limited in how to spend these, as we need to do something *all* our developers and contributors are having a benefit by it. So spending this fund on a future team-meeting seems for us (maintainers of mingw-w64) the best way to do so. Of course if we would have more sponsorship on a regular base we could finance by it an internet-server, which could hold our project home, bug-data-base, and some other added values for developers. Sadly our regular income is pretty low ... over the last 6 years we were able to collect about 400 EURO ... makes per year less then 70 EURO in average.
We started this year new kind of sponsorship. We try to maintain FOSS projects sponsored by companies and hope by this to bring to our community better support, state of the art tools, and new opportunities. This year sponsored project (azcopy) by MS Research related company was given to a team of PhD-students. I will inform you in near future about its sucess-story.
