I know this guy, and I had been criticizing him for hacking implementation details, just like what he is doing now. I think following MS new definition (which contains only a `void*` field) is the right way to go. If you wonder whether there was code that used those fields, probably; but I am pretty sure there will be [1], because he did the same to Glibc's `FILE` struct.
