Thanks for your patches - and it's great to have the corresponding testcases
too! After sitting down and reading through the code, I don't think I have
any objections to it, so unless others have anything to add, I'd push them.
(There's a couple cases of stray whitespace changes and trailing whitespace
that I can fix up.)
