Hi Madhush,

In according to the RFC3775 (section 11.3.1), it depends on the implemention.
The Mobile Node must use its HoA when it is in Foreign Network but it may
choose to directly use its CoA for short-term communication.

MN with the MIPL implementation uses always its HoA.

Antoine

Objet : [mipl] Test-bed configuration

Hi

My test-bed configuration is as follows:

Home subnet prefix- 2001:5c0:8d03:1::/64
Foreign subnet prefix- 2001:5c0:8d03:2::/64
Home Agent address- 2001:5c0:8d03:1::1/64
Mobile Node: Home address- 2001:5c0:8d03:1::99/64,
                 Care-of address- 2001:5c0:8d03:2:211:20ff:fe48:246/64

The MN has 1 wireless interface, eth0. When the MN is in the foreign
subnet in must have 2 addresses, the home address so that it can
register with the HA, and care-of address so it can communicate.
However, when I try to ping6 the HA, the MN seems to use its home
address in the foreign subnet because the HA address has the same prefix
- this obviously doesn't work. If I use "ping6 -I
2001:5c0:8d03:2:211:20ff:fe48:246 2001:5c0:8d03:1::1" it works fine,
since the MN uses the correct (care-of) address in the foreign subnet.

My problem is that when running MIPL I don't know how to specify that it
should use the care-of address (not the home address) in the foreign
subnet. Therefore, MIPL is unable to send a binding update after a
handover to the foreign network.

Is my configuration correct? If it is, have I got something else wrong?
Any solutions, comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Regards
Madhush
