The kernel is, I would say, 90% reliable ;) > My missing success was to get wifi and Xserver running after installing > native Debian Etch. I flashed the 2008-12-18 version of 2.4 uImage-nand2 > [1]. The 2.4 kernel has some severe problems, like bugs in YAFFS that prevent proper multi user operation. The Debian X server has the problem that the pure framebuffer server does not work and the kdrive/Xfbdev server is not included in debian (which would be a nice step forward BTW). Wifi works with 2.6 but you need to post install the proprietary firmware file. > I was thinking about the confusion with different models of very similar > hardware and different uboot versions. Well, a unified bootloader *could* be done but would need a joint effort of all developes on those devices. And you would need low level access to the device in order to do bootloader development - once you flashed a wrong uboot you need something like JTag to recover (I already have one bricked Minibook here :( And personally I like UBoot being able also to boot from other sources like network... UBoot is not a major overhead here. > Mitja > > [1] http://projects.kwaak.net/twiki/bin/view/Epc700/KernelOfTheWeek > [2] http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Qi Cheers nils faerber -- kernel concepts GbR Tel: +49-271-771091-12 Sieghuetter Hauptweg 48 Fax: +49-271-771091-19 D-57072 Siegen Mob: +49-176-21024535 http://www.kernelconcepts.de _______________________________________________ Mipsbook-devel mailing list Mipsbook-devel@linuxtogo.org http://lists.linuxtogo.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mipsbook-devel
